Today’s weather forecast looked marginal for cycling. We had heavy morning showers and threat of late afternoon thunderstorms. We took advantage of a midday window to go for a spin in the Champlain Valley. We started in Bristol and rode a loop route through New Haven, Monkton, Hinesburg and Starksboro to finish in Bristol.
To manage the weather risk, we actually had three variations of the route scoped out…short, medium and longer versions in case we needed to bail out. We ended up following the medium route and finished before the storm arrived. In actuality, the thunderstorm arrived a couple of hours later than the forecast indicated so we would have had time for the longer version. Oh, well.
After the ride, we enjoyed Thomas Dairy chocolate milk on the green in Bristol…but there is no photographic evidence of that. In honor of National Ice Cream Day, we stopped for creemees at the Dairy Creme in Montpelier. We ran into our friend Kip there but didn’t think to ask him to take a picture.
