Stowe

Today we road our mountain bikes on the Toll Road up Mount Mansfield in Stowe.  Bicycles are generally not allowed on the Toll Road…except for one day per year for the Race to the Top of Vermont to support the good work of our friends at the Catamount Trail Association.  The course is a dirt road climb with 2,564 feet of elevation gain in 4.3 miles.  The event starts with runners departing at 9:00 am and mountain bikers departing an hour later at 10:00 am.  Although it is not always the case, the winning run times were faster than the winning bike times this year.

As we were lining up for the bike start, we saw Josh Ferenc of Athens, VT come flying down the road on foot.  He had won the running event and had then run back down the mountain to jump into the biking event.  He grabbed his bike, helmet and biking shoes and made it to the start with seconds to spare.  He finished 8th overall in the bike race.

No change in our project completion status…
